Naqib's constipation problem has finally ended!

Finally, at 3 years and 8 months, he can poop on his own without fear and pain. Thank God :)

Tried so many methods and remedies to ease his constipation - fruits, ribena, high fibre biscuits, wholemeal bread, yogurt, cereals, oat in yogurt, gripe water, jelly gamat (jelly gamat stopped the bleedings when passing motion, so this is strongly recommended - 1 teaspoon per day put in his milk), boiled water with the roots of a type of plant called "Ara Tanah" I think, Novalac special milk formula for constipation, laxative and enema (not recommended to be taken for long periods though), last advice from the pead was to give him pediasure and probiotics supplement (I would recommend this as well as I noticed he had more frequent bowel movement after taking probiotics. I put 1 sachet of probiotics into his milk per day) etc. I guess all these helped one way or another but overcoming his fear was the hardest of all.

At nearly 3, I noticed he had the urge to poop on a daily basis but he kept holding it back until he couldn't hold it in anymore, usually 3 days later, then only would he struggle to poop out a huge and hard poop. There were spells when he refused to eat. When asked why. He said, "If Naqib eat, then Naqib have to berak (poop), berak make Naqib sakit (painful)."

I told him he must not hold back the urge to poop. The longer he kept his poop longer, the harder it would get. And all the poop inside will hurt his tummy. I guess he was still too young to understand that. At first, I squirted enema up his bum bum when he had the urge. My mom cautioned me about using enema too often, said it is not good for him so finally I got a box of those thin surgical gloves and put lots of soap and helped him dig out his poop every time he had the urge ... and finally, since last week, he has been pushing his poop out all by himself. He is no longer afraid.
